Frequently asked questions
We understand you want clarity before making any decision. Here are honest answers about CCTV, alarms, video doorbells, access control and how we work.
General
What areas do you cover for installations?
We cover Birmingham, the wider West Midlands and surrounding areas. ADI Security Installations installs CCTV, burglar alarms, video doorbells and access control for homes and businesses right across the region.
How long does a typical installation take?
Most residential security system installations finish within one day. The exact time depends on the size of your property and the equipment you choose, and we confirm timings with you before any work starts.
Do you handle larger business properties?
Yes. Our commercial security installation services cover offices, retail shops, warehouses and rental properties of all sizes across the West Midlands. We assess every entry point and design a system around how your building is used.
What warranty do you offer on your work?
ADI Security Installations gives a three-year warranty on all parts it supplies and installs, plus a one-year warranty on labour. The warranty covers manufacturing defects and installation faults under normal use.
Can I monitor my property from my phone?
Yes. Most systems we install connect to a smartphone app, so you can view cameras, receive alerts and arm or disarm your alarm from anywhere. We set up the app for you before we leave.
How do I find a trusted installer?
Look for proper reviews, a clear warranty policy and an installer who asks about your needs instead of pushing expensive packages. ADI Security Installations offers honest advice, a free quotation and a 3-year parts warranty.
CCTV
Do you install Hikvision CCTV?
Yes. ADI Security Installations is a Hikvision CCTV installer in the West Midlands. We use quality equipment known for reliable performance and clear night-time footage, and we recommend the right cameras for your property.
Is 4K CCTV worth it?
4K cameras capture four times the detail of standard high definition. You can zoom into recordings and still read number plates or recognise faces, and each camera covers more ground, so you often need fewer cameras.
Will my CCTV cameras work at night?
Yes. Quality cameras with proper infrared technology capture clear footage even in complete darkness. We place each camera with the lighting conditions in mind, so night-time recordings stay useful as evidence.
Do you offer wireless CCTV?
Yes. We install wireless CCTV systems for a tidy finish without messy cables. Where a wired connection is more reliable, we recommend it and hide the cables so they are hard to cut or tamper with.
Alarms
Will my pets set off the burglar alarm?
Not with pet-friendly sensors. Modern passive infrared (PIR) sensors tell the difference between people and other heat sources, so pets moving around your home will not trigger false alarms.
What happens to my alarm during a power cut?
Modern alarms include battery backup, so your system keeps monitoring and sending alerts during a power cut, including one caused deliberately by an intruder. Regular maintenance keeps the backup batteries ready.
Do I need professional alarm monitoring?
Not necessarily. Professional monitoring costs a monthly fee, and a monitoring centre contacts you or the police when the alarm triggers. Many customers prefer self-monitoring through the phone app with no monthly cost. We explain both options.
Can you add sensors to my alarm later?
Yes, with a wireless alarm system. Wireless sensors connect to the control panel without new cables, so we can add door contacts or motion sensors wherever you need them as your property changes.
Video doorbells
Can I talk to visitors through a video doorbell?
Yes. A video doorbell lets you see and speak to visitors from your phone, whether you are upstairs, at work or on holiday. It also records clips, so you have evidence of callers and deliveries.
Do video doorbells need wiring?
Not always. Our wireless video intercom system installation needs no messy wiring and leaves a clean finish. We assess your entry point first and recommend the best option for your door.
Access control
What happens if a staff member loses a key fob?
You deactivate the lost fob from the system straight away, so nobody needs to change any locks. Every fob is linked to one person, which keeps your access log accurate, and a replacement can be issued quickly.
Can access control work with CCTV and fire alarms?
Yes. Access control can link to your CCTV, so cameras record footage tied to each entry. Magnetic locks can also connect to your fire alarm system and release automatically in an emergency.
Is access control suitable for apartment blocks?
Yes. Residents enter with fobs or codes, and visitors request access through a video intercom. It removes the risk of shared keys and broken locks and keeps common areas secure.
Quotes and bookings
Are your quotes free?
Yes. All quotations from ADI Security Installations are free and carry no obligation. Prices are valid for thirty days from the date of issue unless we state otherwise, and only change if the scope of work changes after our assessment.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
For larger projects we may ask for a deposit before scheduling the work. Full payment is due when the installation is complete, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
Can I cancel my booking?
Yes. You can cancel at any time before work begins without penalty. If you cancel after we have ordered equipment, restocking fees may apply. Please cancel in writing or by phone during business hours.
